Dalia Carella of New York City, New York during final rehearsals for “The Ghostly Cotillion”

Greetings Fellow Space Traveler!

The last three weeks have been like a run-away train.

Two weeks ago I realized I was so swamped that I would be killing myself trying to get in a blog post. And, I was extremely tired. But last week? Last week was like the prior week amplified.

Who knew?

And so, at some point last week, the Life Lesson that decided to make its presence immediate and palpable was that of simply enjoying the journey.

Last week the Gulf Coast was clued in to the idea that there might be a hurricane before the weekend was out.

By last Freyja’sDay we were under a mandatory curfew for Saturday at 6PM (later changed to 7 ….later cancelled.)

Because of the curfew, we were ultimately forced to call “The Ghostly Cotillion.” And while we are currently planning to present the show at a later date, there’s a good chance the show won’t be with all of the people we originally planned.

But that’s all okay.

Because I had so much fun in the doing of it all …I won’t say it’s “okay” that the show didn’t happen – but it definitely didn’t feel like the end of the world. I was kind of surprised by that.

All of the people who came together to create “The Ghostly Cotillion” created. They didn’t just ‘put a show together’ – everyone built a cohesive, living piece of art.

And I had the best, most inspiring, creatively fulfilling time I’ve had in years, even though we didn’t get to do the thing that was forcing us into such a deep level of communal-creativity.

So much work.

So much effort.

So much time, money, emotion, energy.

And it was all worth it.

Just for the sake of having done it – regardless of the outcome.

Sometimes, maybe more often than not, that’s Life.

Though maybe it doesn’t usually look so dramatic.

In my own experience, if I want to have a Beautiful, Fulfilling Life – it’s more often than not a gamble – time and effort vs outcome. And honestly? If I’m only in it for the outcome, that seems like a slim return.

If I focus on the fact that all of this energy is swirling and moving, and lifting people, and growing an entire community? Well, the gamble seems totally worth it.

Every time.

But really? Let’s revisit this conversation when my tomato and cucumber plants begin producing fruit. 😉
