I don’t know how many layers there are to your lives, worlds, or personal stories, but all of mine involve at least an extremely large onion’s worth.
Part of my onion-peeling process (like many folks I know) has to do primarily with unlearning habits, beliefs, and ways of thinking. At some point in the peeling, there comes a layer where we have to deal with our Shadows (shadow-selves.) Our Shadows are the parts of us that most would rather ignore and turn a blind eye to, but which will also turn around and take control of us, often in negative ways, if we don’t acknowledge and get to know them.
I can’t say I’m completely comfortable with all of my Shadows, but I’ve gotten the hang of walking back and forth between our meeting places.
There’s a lot of power in simply acknowledging my Shadows.
They’re never gone, but as long as we keep dancing, I feel like we’ve got a chance at some sort of balance.
Oh me? I’m a collaborative dance choreographer with the Shadows of the Underworld. aka Night Job.
