Greetings from the Shamsiverse, August 4, 2017

bet you didn’t know that Morla started out as a ‘weee ickle tortoise’. EH?

Greetings Fellow Space Travelers, Happy Freyja’sDay!

What a long strange trip it’s been.

I always wonder how often the above appears in high school yearbooks. I’d have to imagine ‘a lot’ is probably a fair guess.

This week.

Oooolawd.

Also – I was sad for July to end. I think I always am, but I stopped and took note of it this year. Probably the icing on the “it’s not July anymore” cake was arriving at the pool Wednesday at roughly 9am, only to discover that ‘Summer’ hours are over and the pool would not open until 1pm. :-/ Really? ….don’t they know Summer lasts until September 20th? For real y’all ….this is like that time I was told to go to bed at 7pm when it was still full-light out.

Nope. Not buying it.

YAY SUMMER!

Awww Rats. It’s over.

Sincerely – I haven’t felt this way about it since I was a kid. But apparently I shall just have to get over it. I WILL SURVIVE! HEY HEY! 😉 *snort*

This week was all about patience and lying low. True story.

No, really – here are the pictures!

“…..8 and HOLD” (Messages I receive and write in my daybook. My guides are funny.)

“—->Wait vs. Action / Patience —->Conservation of Energy/Movement <—-” mhmmm. Sure. NO problem.
This was that time I thought I was going to write my blog post, wash clothes, pack for my trip, study the new tracks I’m supposed to learn …for my trip, and study for my job with Tulane. UHm, The Computer says “Moooooooo”. Obviously, I finished the laundry and packing my things for the weekend.

Incidentally, this lesson keeps showing up – like the time I was going to the pool for 9am, but BOTH bridges between myself and the pool were having issues …I did not know about the second bridge’s issues until I, along with about 200 other motorists, found ourselves gridlocked 2 blocks deep into the neighborhoods surrounding the bridge. So …that was a good time. Of waiting. Chilling (not literally, I turned the car off, so there was no AC.) Pondering “What does it all mean?” When mostly, most of the time, it doesn’t mean anything other than – “Take some breaths. Remember that whole ‘Human’ thing you came to do? Yeah – do that.”

My Guides, trying to get me to remember that being Human means actually being here, taking things in, processing, looking, engaging, receiving, giving, being in gratitude for getting to breathe, and oodles of other Human stuff – that don’t always involve filling up our time with the ‘doing’ of things.

Silly ol’ waiting. But really – sometimes the message is quite clear. I haven’t been making a whole lot of forward progress with my professional life, it’s not at a dead stop, but I can feel that I’ve definitely been spinning my wheels in some areas. So when I’m told to ‘shut it down’ and ‘have patience’ and ‘wait’, I know it’s at least one or two things, if not a combination – which is to say, “Sometimes, just trying to get stuff done, is just being busy and spending energy that could be better used elsewhere.”

So – not that I took the week off, but I didn’t press to get things done that weren’t essential. I did the basics. And oddly – it was enough. ♥

“Things that can be fun, but are also beneficial, for the win Bob!” Part of my Life’s Purpose is to engage the world in worth-while, necessary tasks, while also having fun. Think “Mary Poppins, spoonful of sugar” and all that jazz. So, I thought it was interesting when this flowed from my pen (Also, when giving answers to the Universe, I enjoy calling It “Bob” and pretending It is a games how host. …because really – wouldn’t life be more exciting if there were random Plinko games instead of traffic? Just thinking out loud here.)

Next Saturday, August 12th, I get to be part of “Your Weight Matters” hosted by the O.A.C. (Obesity Action Coalition.) I’ll be teaching POUND® as one of the fitness segments on Saturday morning at 7am. (Yes, I know it’s early 🙂 but I promise, it will be fantastic!) I’m excited and honored to get to be a part of this event, and work with the amazing people over at OAC.

From the Convention webpage:

Your Weight Matters National Convention

The Your Weight Matters Annual Convention is a three-day educational event designed to provide attendees with the latest information on weight and health, so they can proactively take charge of their health and weight. Attendees experience three full days of educational sessions, special events and more all geared directly toward them. One of the main goals of Convention is to create a warm and welcoming environment, free of weight bias, where individuals affected by excess weight or obesity can feel comfortable and learn more about how their weight impacts their health.
